( For some background, my Mom had a knee surgery last week. Yes, everything when 100% fine . . . )
Co-worker : How's your Mom's leg doing?
Me : Last time I checked, it's still on her body.
Co-worker : You know, when you give these smart ass answers, it makes people not what to talk to you.
Me : Good, because I don't want people to talk to me. It gets in the way of my working. |

It's 1 hour and 15 minutes to my birthday, as good a time as any to begin an update post!
(For the record: last time I started typing an update post, I was at work and was interrupted by a rather large house fire that I suddenly had to handle, so I didn't get to finish the post. I'm not at work now, so that's unlikely to happen.)
Hi! I ate'nt ded.
I adopted a cat from PAWS! His name is Bug McLovin the Chocolate Muffin (or "Bug" for short). No, I didn't name him that, he came with it. But how could you bear to change that name? Besides, he comes when you call him. He's a big, adorable boy and a total love -- anyone who comes over and makes any sort of lap-type surface available is apt to get forcibly snuggled.

I just need to teach him to let me sleep during the day, and we'll be golden.
In other news: * I was finally able to get my 5-string electric violin repaired and today I got a full set of new strings and a carbon-fiber bow for it. I can't wait to play around with it tomorrow. (I would've today, but my mini-amp is at home and I am not)
* I saw a laryngologist this morning for a persistent vocal buzz I've been having in my singing voice and was prescribed speech therapy. After the camera scope thing she went over the video with me, and I got to see my vocal cords! They're so ALIEN. There's some evidence of minor scarring and some swelling, but no major damage. The doctor thinks that with the proper re-training of my speaking voice (which I definitely use more than my singing voice) I can stop over-exerting myself and heal right up. Hooray for that.
* I went to the Olympics last week with bioentropy and vanilla_n24 and saw a curling match (and it was AWESOME). The whole city was crazy, but in a good way. I had a great time.
* Tomorrow I shall have a cupcake for breakfast, then go to Olympus Spa to relax, then have dinner at Marrakesh with my longtime sweetheart. A lovely low-key day, if I have my way.
And... I find that I don't really know what else to update about. Not much has changed lately, really. Work is the same (except my schedule has switched around again, but it does that every six months), I'm still taking online college courses, I still sing in the choir and play the viola or violin with various groups, and I still live on Capitol Hill. Life is pretty darn good, all around. Any other questions? |
